Its been a while since you guys have heard from me, and there are many reasons for that. Despite those reasons (which include falling in and out of love with tumblr) I decided reignite the freelance writer in me who I though I was earlier in my tumblr career. Don’t worry, Im not some narcissistic yuppie who wants you to read his writing just for likes, follows, and a false sense of accomplishment. I have a legitimate reason for wanting to stroke the keys of my macbook again. I cant say that recently I have been able to express myself like I need to or want to. Some sort of self expression is good for any human, and I feel like this is the perfect time for me to start expressing my thoughts and feelings on a page. I don’t talk much anyway so Im kinda disappointed in myself for not doing this earlier.
This is the perfect time for me because starting on September 12th, I will be living in London for three months and I can honestly say I have never been more excited for anything in my short 22 years of life. I didn’t want to just take a bunch a pictures of my travels and put them on facebook. I wanted to do something that I could look back at later in life and feel the same way I did when I was there. Pictures are good at that, but I feel like writing creates a deeper connection. I will be doing most of my writing on a wordpress which I will make in the next few days so stay tuned for that.
Speaking of pictures, I just bought a camera and have been going around my hometown of Evanston, Illinois taking pictures of things from my childhood and whatnot. Feeling super nostalgic, I want to do a mini project before I leave called PicturEvanston, where I showcase all the things (to me) that make E-Town E-Town. Look out for that too. Here are a few pics that Ive taken.
Well, this is my attempt to start something that I hopefully wont be able to stop. Traveling or writing. Lets see how it goes.
What fucks me up about the Darren Wilson fundraiser is that he hasn’t been charged with a crime. He doesn’t have to hire a lawyer. He’s on paid leave, so he’s not losing wages. This is not covering his expenses, because he doesn’t have any additional expenses. This is a reward. He’s getting a $250,000 reward for murdering an unarmed black kid, two days away from starting college, in broad daylight.
Here is a list of donations, protests, and petitions that you can do to help the people in #Ferguson and to assist #MikeBrown and #EzellFord all others who have been killed by the hands of the police. I will try to update as much as possible.
